Canvas Magazine
A new editorial system for a culture magazine covering design, cities, publishing and independent practice.
A new editorial system for a culture magazine covering design, cities, publishing and independent practice.
The brief
Canvas had strong contributors but an inconsistent reading experience. Each issue looked different, and the website struggled to distinguish interviews, essays, reviews and visual stories.
Our approach
We established a small number of editorial formats, each with a clear purpose. The print and digital systems share typography, pacing and image logic while adapting to their different reading conditions.
What changed
Editors can now commission and publish more confidently, and readers can recognise the shape of a story before they begin.
A publication becomes memorable when variation has a dependable rhythm.
